Comparisons of Gait Variability and Symmetry in Healthy Runners, Runners with a History of Lower Limb Injuries, and Runners with a Current Lower Limb Injury

چکیده
Background: Running is a cyclic movement requiring bilateral symmetry between the lower limbs to reduce injury risk. The assessment of side-to-side differences often performed detect functional deficits. Objectives: purpose was study using clinical and running performance assessments in healthy runners (HR), with history limb injuries (RHI), current (RLI). Methods: Forty-three were recruited, 14 participants being allocated HR group, 13 RHI 16 RLI group. Peak vertical ground reaction force (GRF), midfoot pressure, foot rotation, gait variability recorded Zebris FDM-T treadmill analysis system. Participants also assessed navicular drop test. Dependent t-tests used determine if any existed within each One-way ANOVAs then investigate three groups. Results: Significant seen height both (P = 0.02) 0.009) groups, rotation greatest group (~34%) compared (~30.5%) (~24%) lateral center pressure (37.1 mm) (28.9 (22.2 Conclusions: Variability butterfly diagram may help identify at greater risk injury. Side-to-side should be expected progressively decrease from injured stage, through recovery return sport phases. Target goals less than 34% difference for 37.1 mm decision-making process when considering practice.

Interventions for preventing lower limb soft-tissue injuries in runners.
BACKGROUND Overuse musculoskeletal injuries occur frequently in runners. Suggestions for prevention have focused on stretching exercises, modifying training schedules and the use of protective devices such as braces and insoles. To date, no systematic analysis of the literature on the effectiveness of these strategies in the prevention of overuse injuries has been published. OBJECTIVES The ob...
متن کاملChanges of gait parameters and lower limb dynamics in recreational runners with achilles tendinopathy.
This study aimed to clarify the mechanical gait changes caused by achilles tendinopathy by comparing gait parameters and changes in hip, knee, and ankle moments between an experimental group (EG) and a control group (CG). Twenty runners with achilles tendinopathy were included in the EG (male/female: 10/10, age: 27.00 ± 4.63), and 20 CG (male/female: 10/10, age: 27.25 ± 4.33) participants were ...
متن کاملEffectiveness of gait-retraining with auditory feedback on pain and lower body kinematics in injured recreational runners
Aims and background: Abnormal hip and knee mechanics are often implicated in runners with history of injury. We considered evaluating a simple gait-retraining protocol, using auditory-external feedback, in runners with running-related injuries and abnormal hip and knee mechanics. The effect of using external-feedback may have been more profound if the content of instruction had been relevant to...
متن کاملComparing the Pattern of Lower Limb Joints Coordination in an Optional and Selective Sprint Start of Elite Women Runners
Objective: The sprint start is a complex skill characterized by a multi-joint and multi-plane task requiring complex muscle coordination to reach a large force exerted in the horizontal direction in a short time. Previous studies indicated that efficient acceleration over the first portion of a race is influenced by how a sprinter is positioned in the set command blocks. Methods: A total of 15...
متن کاملLower limb alignment characteristics are not associated with running injuries in runners: Prospective cohort study.
There is conflicting evidence on the association between lower limb alignment characteristics and the incidence of running-related injury (RRI). Therefore, the primary aim of this study was to investigate the association between lower limb alignment characteristics and the incidence proportion of RRI in a convenience sample of recreational runners. A total of 89 recreational runners were includ...
